How It Works

The devil’s in the details. Each shoe is very meticulously planned and executed in complimentary colors and scenes. I make sure every pair is cohesive and do my best to tie all sections into one another. This ensures that the shoes match and go together even if they feature totally different images. Every shoe holds their story differently and depending on the amount of detail requested, I let the shoe and your story be my guide.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

Each pair is hand crafted with the personality of their owner in mind. Think of each pair like a tattoo- the artwork is unique to the individual. It can be very similar, but no two pairs will ever be “identical.”

The time it takes to make each pair varies depending on the amount of detail work requested as well as the amount of orders received. For instance, ordering a pair for Grandmom’s birthday in June will most likely have a quicker turnaround time than ordering Uncle Dan a pair of hula girl kicks for Christmas in December. The time of year will affect the dates, so be mindful. Orders on average take about three weeks from conception to finish. However, we are more than happy to work with you on deadlines and we’ll be in contact every step of the way. Communication is key!

As many as you’d like! We usually suggest one thing per panel on your average canvas shoe (4 panels per shoe.) You are welcomed and encouraged to get as creative as you like! This is your project, YOUR vision. Our job at GGC is to simply bring your idea to life. Again, the most important part of the process is communication between client and artist. In order to ensure your shoes will be exactly what you are expecting, you must be very descriptive as to what you’re looking to get out of the experience.

Yes! This is our favorite question. PLEASE wear your shoes! Although this is hand painted art, each pair is waterproofed and cured to ensure longevity. Feel free to get caught in the rain, go for a hike, or gift them to your 10 year old. Please treat them as shoes if your intention is to get a “shoe life span” from these. No pair of shoes will last forever but these will stand up just as any regular shoe will.

Our suggestion is to gently wipe them clean with a baby wipe or a natural cleanser product. There are also foaming cleaners out there made specifically for shoes such as Angelus Brand Foam-tex. Always use a soft cloth or tissue, nothing too abrasive! We also suggest investing in a can of Crep Protect spray for suede, nubuck, and canvas shoes. A quick spritz every 2-4 weeks will aid in the life span of your pair.

In most cases, yes. A standard quote will include the pricing of a Vans or other brand named canvas shoe of your choice.  However, if you have your own pair of high quality shoes in new or mint condition,* we will gladly paint and protect these to transform them into what you’re looking for! We are willing to work with you to satisfy anything you’re looking to have done and we will go the extra mile. Let us know what you need and we will do our best to make it happen!

* Shoes must be in new or mint condition, no restorations.

If you really need that pair for Uncle Dan, no exceptions, we will work with you to the best of our ability. Art is a tricky thing in the sense that you don’t often want to rush it. Our goal is to give you exactly what you want in the time frame that you needed it. If there are extenuating circumstances where you need a pair on the fly rush accommodations will be available to you for a fee.

These shoes do very well against the elements. However, if you find there is something not exactly right with your pair or there is something you’re not happy with, please let us know and we will work to correct this right away. Our goal is to make sure you are extremely happy with your purchase. You will be notified when your order is finished and final photos will be available to you before they’re shipped out. Each sale is final; therefore, we like to make sure we are all on the same page before they are in your hand. If something happens and they become damaged after they are in your care, please contact me personally and I will do my very best to restore what I can to your shoes.
